The New Inn in the News

The New Inn, Manaccan: Our Story in the News

Tucked away in the village of Manaccan, near the Helford River on Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula, The New Inn is a traditional thatched pub with a long history and a warm welcome.

We’re proud to have been featured in local and national stories celebrating our food, beautiful surroundings and place in village life.

A new chapter for a much-loved village pub

The New Inn has long held a special place in Manaccan. Local residents once came together to rescue the pub, and their efforts remain an important part of its history.

Today, The New Inn is privately owned and operated, with its connection to the community continuing through local employment, Cornish suppliers, sponsorship and support for local organisations.

In October 2026, CornishStuff looked back at the pub’s journey and its life today:

One of Cornwall’s great pub walks

The New Inn is a lovely starting point for exploring the countryside and creeks around Manaccan and the Helford River.

In 2026, The Telegraph featured The New Inn as the start and finish of its Helford River and Gillan Creek route in The 10 greatest pub walks in Cornwall. The approximately six-mile circular walk takes in Helford, Dennis Head and Gillan Creek before returning to Manaccan.

Walkers and dogs are always welcome at The New Inn, whether you’re setting out or calling in afterwards.
